Tom Buchanan is🤴🏼Old money🤴🏼 and a strong man, he has “cruel body” with “enormous power” which causes him using violence to solve problems.

The American dream suggest there's no barrier between races👬💑, they're equal. In the great Gatsby, Tom Buchanan is the racist. Through this quote:🤵🏻🤵🏻"it's up to us (white people), who are the dominant race, to watch out or these other races will have control of things" 👨🏿‍🌾👨🏿‍🌾When Nick first went to Daisy’s home, Tom told he is reading a book named The Rise of the Colored Empires. It is about how other Empires will rice and dominant white race, he reminds Nick that White people need watch out other races, otherwise they will control of things. Tom is not only reading racially prejudiced literature 📗📗but completely subscribes to the racist ideology, which indicates that he is indeed a racist and believes that 👍🏻white people are superior👍🏻.Also Tom thinks that marriage between different races is ridiculous and inconceivable, "Nowadays people begin by sneering at family life and family institutions, and next they'll throw everything overboard and have intermarriage between black and White" This is hypocritical because Tom is cheating himself by talking about family morals. But actually he is the first person betrayed family. He compares Gatsby and Daisy together as black and white. Daisy is pure and noble, no matter how hard Gatsby tried, he could not change the fact that he was new money. And this fact in Tom's eyes is low status just like the black people. 😞😞😞

Tom did’t🙅🏻‍♂️🙅🏻‍♂️ achieve the American dream. ⭕️Every races need be equal⭕️, but Tom did the exact opposite, He was born in a rich family and lived in the East egg. He thought that people was born unequal, and he was the most noble. He had a strong desire to control everything.😒😒😒

The exist of racism is because the society. This society is divided into many classes and regions. Such as white area, black area. Tom grew up in the white area, with a luxurious life and sports. And people in black areas or poor areas are working for or service white people. Tom's cars are all repaired by George from the poor area. To sum up, 🤜🏻🤜🏻what needs to be changed is this society🤛🏿🤛🏿. The American dream is to eliminate racial discrimination and class gap. This society only gives white people the chance to pursue the American dream.👨🏻‍💼👨🏻‍💼👨🏻‍💼

In the last part, I chose the green book as an example to support the elimination of racial prejudice.

The protagonist is Shirley, who is a black pianist🎹🎹. Connect to the Great Gatsby, Tom and Shirley have the 👥same status but face differently treat👥 Tom is a 

👨🏻‍💼white man👨🏻‍💼.He enjoys the respect and convenience brought by high status. He takes advantage of the women in the poverty areas who want to cling to the powerful people and get rich to get physical satisfaction. Marry Daisy to ensure his status. His skin color and status gave him great power to control others, when Gatsby appeared to rob daisy. He investigated Gatsby and found that he was a 💰💰New money,💰💰 but the status of people in the East and the West was different. Tom's superiority made him feel that Gatsby from the West was very lowly, and looked like a 👨🏿‍🌾black man 👨🏿‍🌾in his eyes which remind him the story the read before, he needs to pay attention on these people, otherwise, these people will control everything💪💪. Shirley has the same high status as Tom, but he doesn't get the same respect and convenience as Tom. 🖕🖕It's because of his skin color. He's a black man who can't enter sunset town after dark. And needs White driver Tony's violence to change the piano brand during the piano tour. Before he went out, his driver got a 📗green book📗. It says that which places are open to black people. It seems to be to avoid trouble, but in fact, it restricts the activities and freedom of black people. 🕊🕊Tom is free as a white man🕊🕊. Even if he is married, he can look for happiness outside. In addition, the reason why Shirley is not accepted is that there are fewer black people in the high social status. White people ruled in period. In Tom's eyes, black people were slaves. 💑This is linked to the American dream, which advocates the elimination of racial prejudice and the 🙅🏿‍♂️equal treatment🙅🏿‍♂️，🙆🏻‍♂️freedom🙆🏻‍♂️ of everyone. This is an ideal American dream, because in the hearts of white people, they can't erase the stereotype that black people are slaves, just like Tom💑.🚫So they can't accept equal opportunities with them.🚫 And in the heart of the black people, this is what they all want to pursue, just like sherry. He wants people to pay more attention to his piano talent than his skin color. It's hard to achieve, most black people are 👇👇low-level👇👇, they don't have the money to fight.
