Part 2--Edward(Enhao)Zhang-- The UNIQUE Gatsby with the American Dream in Steve Jobs

The American dream is a MENTAL success of following my unique ways about how to do things and to be myself in my own ways to separate one from others with ignorance❗ of other people's judgments❌ and actions❎ to me. Only to be unique to myself and achieve my goal in my way can be my own success. On Gatsby, I can see the same spirit as the American dream.

Gatsby believes that money can do everything even though it was a wrong❌ idea, but he still sticks on it. He is very stubborn, although most people in his party🎉 think Gatsby was doing wired❓, he did not give up❌ to hold the party🥳 and waiting for Daisy👧. Also, Gatsby belongs to a new money group, compared to people who belong to old money, Gatsby can do things in his way instead of following the tradition✖.

From the book the Great Gatsby, we can know that Gatsby is a rich💸 person and he has a large party at his house every weekend. The first thing that makes Gatsby unique is that he only invites Nick to his party and other people just come without any invitation, which means nobody knows❔ Gatsby except Nick. Although this is wired for those people who come to Gatsby's party, Gatsby still holds the party every weekend.

During the party, Gatsby does not
like other people who dance and play games at the party, he just "standing👣 alone on the marble steps and looking from one group to another with approving eyes👀." This behaviour shows that he is different from other rich people who came to his party, in other words, he is unique. After the party, he drives his car to pick up Nick, his car🚗 " was a rich cream colour, bright with nickel..."

In the middle of this novel, I learned that Gatsby's purpose to hold the party every weekend is hoping for a woman, Daisy could come. That is also the reason why he bought his house there because he can see Daisy's house in the place that he bought. He did this just because he wants to get more chances to met Daisy even though most people do not understand him and do not believe him.

The same idea of my perspective of the American Dream can be seen in this book📖 as his car, the "rich cream colour" is the colour that old money would never use on a car because of they need to follow the tradition to use black or dark blue instead of this bright colour, which can show that Gatsby as a member of new money does not need to follow the old traditions or copy other people's behaviour but can have his own ideas to do things.

Also, normal people would not spend that much power and money to get a girl's attention. Gatsby did all these things because of his love💝 for Daisy, and in a society full of betrayals and hypocrites, it was Gatsby's persistence in this love that made him unique. Gatsby so loved💖 Daisy that loses his mind and then he even wants to change the past🕒, which can not be achieved all the time.

But Daisy and the memories about Daisy are a part of Gatsby, which means he can not live without those parts and all he can do to get his girl is to spend more money to change as more things as possible. So, for Gatsby, this is his own American Dream and he indeed achieves part of it, which means he met Daisy successfully but he noticed that Daisy changed from Gatsby's memory of her and Gatsby does not believe that.

Gatsby actually achieves most of his American Dream, the part he achieved is that he met the woman, Daisy, who he tries all the things to approach, to get a chance to met. Also, Gatsby spent a lot of happy time🙋 with Daisy, which makes Gatsby thinks he achieves his own dream, but the fact is that Daisy is not the perfect woman in his mind. The changes of Daisy are the parts Gatsby does not achieve because he can not believe that the woman in his mind for five years now turns in to a mother who has a daughter. After that, Gatsby decides to live in his own imagination🧠 that he can use the money to change Daisy to the person in his memory, which can not be done all the time.

Gatsby needs to change, the most reason that he needs to change is that his goal which is Daisy changed. The most important thing for Gatsby is that he needs to accept the fact that Daisy changed a lot. He can not just live in his own imagination about Daisy, he should change himself to be old money and then try to break up the relationships between Tom and Daisy, or he can just give up his dream and his memory about Daisy to start a new life without those memories.

Compare Gatsby to Steve Jobs, they have a lot of similar ideas. Both of them are stubborn because they do things in their own way and they have their personal reason, and then other people see them as wired people and do not understand why they do things like this. Jobs does not care what other people say about the products he made but keep making cool products to change the world, Gatsby does not care how the people in the party judge him but keep making himself famous to get Daisy's attention to meet her. The only thing that differs between Jobs and Gatsby is that Jobs does not change his goal at all, but Gatsby changed his goal without changing his idea. So, Steve Jobs succeed but Gatsby did not.
