Part 1--Jessie (Qi) Rao --The class division in the American dream
Some people believe that the American dream is a moral encouragement💪 which supports people to achieve a better material living standard, while others suppose that it is an unrealistic lie😈 for the citizens who work hard but gain nothing.
From my perspective, the American dream provides restricted education and job opportunities for those who already have a financial foundation, which exacerbates and solidifies class division. 😟😟😟
As more and more people move to the cities with great opportunities, education resources, medical resources and employment opportunities cannot be equally
distributed to every citizen💢💢, so the probability of changing social status becomes
smaller.😞 For example, Parents’ income and living environment constantly limits children’s
education conditions👪, which can be shown by the expensive tuition fee 💰💲of world-famous
university, such as Harvard University.

At present, I have chances to go aboard for further study 💻because my parents had chances to work in the most prosperous city in China💪💪, while my father’s cousin who is a farmer in rural areas was not able to afford the same education condition for his son💦😭. The difference in English proficiency and knowledge between us can lead to our contrasting job opportunities and living standards💥💣, which represent our unchangeable class division in the future. The class division cannot be eliminated by an empty and abstract faith that people can succeed if they work hard because of the unfair distribution of various resources and wealth.
"For all the American citizens out there who feel you are falling behind or feel the American dream is not working for you, the immigrants didn't do that to you," New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said during the debate. "The big corporations did that to you."

Hi, Jessie
ReplyDeleteThis is your most handsome classmate, Edward. I have to say that I really enjoyed your blog. It was enlightening to see someone share the same views as me. I particularly enjoyed that you have an example that is particularly close to our lives to support your point and also make me have a better understanding of the American Dream from your perspective. My favourite part of your blog is where you mentioned the real problem, which is the “class division cannot be eliminated by an empty and abstract faith.” I strongly agree with your opinion because Resource inequality is the most significant problem people face today without knowing how to change the status quo. I also really enjoy that you use different colours of the font and highlighter to emphasize your point of view and make it clearer to remember.
However, not everything was so perfect in your blog, in my opinion, your blog has dull colours which make people easily to feel annoying about your blog. In order to catch people’s attention, you need to be more creative in using colour and make your blog more colourful. Most of your opinions are straight forward, you need to qualify your views as ideas instead of facts. To improve your blog, you can choose a person who is much famous than the New York mayor to have a shred of strong evidence to influence people. Also, try to avoid repeating your ideas and find more exciting ways to express your thoughts. Like our teacher always says: “To be more CREATIVE.” Then you will make significant progress in your opinion writing.
