Part 1--Edward(Enhao)Zhang--To be unique, To be success
The American dream is a SPIRITπ§ of following my unique ideas about how to do things and sticking to them to being myself instead of being the same as others.
This idea connected to the Declaration of Independence is because to be myself is about my LIBERTY which is my freedom to be unique. In my environmentπ«, most of my classmates have similar ideas when we on the same assignmentπ in English classπ, but in my opinion, people who have same thoughts will NOTπΏ successful, which means they can NOTπ’ get a good mark because they are not being themselves, they just imitate each other. Having the SAMEπ thoughts with those people will only make MEπ as unsuccessfulπ as them.
So, to be successful, which means to be myselfπ§ or to be unique, which means even the conclusion is the same BUT I can have my own way to do it, I have to at least think differently and do things differently from the people π₯around me and also be able to stick to my ideas even when people do not❌ understand me or see me as a freakπ. Only in this way is a successπ for me.
I found this idea in the movieπ₯ Steve Jobs. In this movieπΊ, no matter where Jobs worked, he always followed his own thoughts and made good productsπ± in his mind to change people's way of life and change the worldπ. Even if people around him did not agree❌ with him, also if he was FIREDπ₯ from the company he founded, he did not change his MINDπ§ about making good productsπ» and changing the worldπ. In the end, Jobs succeeded✅ in changing people's way of life, and Appleπ became the MOST influential mobile phoneπ± company in the worldπ.
Toward the END of the movieπΉ, Jobs were called BACK to Apple, and his first words as CEO were, "We're gonna put a dent in the universe." which can show that Jobs' dream has NOT changed, and ONLY by sticking to his unique idea can he succeedπ.
His company sees him as a FAILπ’ leader, his co-workers think he was a crazyπ₯ man, but he NEVER effect by those judgmentsπ¨, that is the difference between him and other people and the reason why he can be a successπ.
The American dream is presented in this way because Jobs' greatness has enoughπͺ influence on people's heartsπ to inspire people like me to be unique as he did to gain more chances to succeedπ.
The American dream expressed through the REAL-LIFEπ does NOT need too much moneyπ° to achieve successπ because being unique and being myself is more about spiritualπ§ successful instead of materialπΈ, so through IDEALISMπ§ to convey a unique spirit, only adhere to my own ideas to be myself can get more opportunities to be my own successπ.

PART 3: Jessie's Personal comment for Edward's Part 1
ReplyDeleteHi, Edward
I am your most friendly opponent, Jessie. After I read your blog, there are some praise and suggestions that I want to share with you, which only represents my personal opinions.
Firstly, your special understanding of the American Dream leave me a deep impression. I totally agree with you about the importance of being a unique person who should always insist on his/her original goals. It is excellent for you to connect your ideas to Declaration of Independence and explain it in an organized way, which represent your profound knowledge of American history. Your personal experience strongly support your idea and make me understand your point clearly, though it is a little mean to your classmates. Besides, it is good for you to use highlighter to emphasize the important and meaningful words in the sentences, which lead me to focus on those main words directly.
To be honest, there are also some advice for you to improve your blog.
In my opinion, your colorful highlighter that labeled the keywords are too separate, which break your structure of sentences. Instead of individual words, It is better for you to highlight some sentences or phrases that reveal your main points.
Moreover, please stop using the word of “unique”, which appeared more than seven times in your blog and make it lose its meaning of “unique”. Checking your grammar after you finish your work is also necessary. Please avoid the mistakes like “he can be a success” or “will not successful”.
All in all, I am really enjoy reading your blog and I hope my suggestions can help you in your future creation.
